Legislation could allow Manx residents ability to donate to UK political parties
People who moved to the Isle of Man from the United Kingdom more than 15 years ago may soon be able to make financial donations to UK political parties.
The time restriction will be lifted if the Elections Bill successfully makes its way through Westminster.
The new regulations would also allow anyone born in the UK, but now living in the Island, to vote in future elections there.
There are claims the real reason for the change in the law is to allow multi-millionaires, living in off-shore financial centres, to have a say in UK politics while not paying taxes.
