'Deliberate damage to a pipe' prompted emergency services response
Three young people are believed to have been responsible for damage to a gas tank in Douglas which prompted a response from emergency services last night.
Police put out an urgent call at around 7pm after water vapour, initially thought to be smoke, was seen coming out of the tanker.
It turned out to be an automatic fire suppression system triggered by deliberate damage to a pipe - which happened to contain air and not flammable gas.
The three young people are assisting officers with their inquiries.
Police say they would like to point out the obvious dangers of persons tampering with gas supply equipment and trespassing in prohibited areas.
