Government warns of harmful impact to wildlife
Cooil Road, from the Ballacutchel Road to the Braaid, has been polluted by thousands of tiny polystyrene balls.
The exact source is unclear but it's likely they have come from a passing vehicle.
The environment department says they are classed as micro plastics and have the potential to cause real harm to natural ecosystems and wildlife.
A road sweeper has attempted to clear as many of the items as possible but it's likely many have made their way into surrounding fields and waterways.
Any plastic pollution should be reported to plastics@gov.im.
