Rise for UK low paid sparks online debate
The Policy and Reform Minister has hinted at a possible increase in the Island's minimum wage.
Chris Thomas was responding to a Facebook post about low income families in the Isle of Man being worse off than their UK counterparts.
UK Chancellor Philip Hammond yesterday announced a 4% rise in the national minimum wage for over 25s to £7.50 an hour.
The minimum wage over here currently stands at £7 an hour.
Mr Thomas commented that a consultation is currently taking place on the matter - an indication, he says, that 'it might increase'.
