Peter Washington to stand in September's General Election
A third candidate has announced their plans to stand in Douglas North in September's General Election.
Peter Washington has served as a councillor for the area since 2021, and has previously spent 21 years working as a paramedic in the UK.
The Manx Labour Party Secretary has lived on the island for almost 30 years, working as a Day Care Support Officer and volunteering with the RNLI.
If elected, he says his priorities will be to 'stand up for fairness, improve housing, protect tenants’ rights, and make sure the voices of local people are heard'.
He says: "In 2021, I was honoured to be elected as a Councillor for Douglas North. Over the last five years, I have worked hard to represent local residents and currently serve as Chair of the Housing Committee.
"Having lived in social housing myself for much of my time on the Island, I know how important it is for the house you live in to feel like your home and for everyone to have a safe, secure place to call home.
"If I am elected as your MHK, I will continue to be a strong voice for Douglas North."
Also standing in Douglas North are John Wannenburgh and Hugo Yates.
The General Election is taking place on Thursday 24 September.
