New system could be less fair than none at all
An MHK claims new rules on government contracts for goods and services prioritise efficiency over fairness.
Tynwald last week approved a unified Procurement Policy for tendering exercises over £10,000.
The Treasury Minister told the court compulsory competition for smaller projects would create unnecessary administrative hassle.
But while Onchan member Julie Edge supports the policy in principle, she's concerned it will make it harder for small firms bidding for minor contracts.
She says in that respect, the previous system was more fair:
