Temporary lights to return to Braddan Bridge

Six-metre section of newly resurfaced road 'does not meet the Department’s standards'

Temporary lights will again be in place at Braddan Bridge late next week as highways engineers resurface a six-metre section of road which 'does not meet the Department’s resurfacing standards'.

The Department of Infrastructure says the lights will be activated after the morning commuter traffic subsides, and 'every effort will be made to finish before the evening peak begins'.

Last week (18-19 March) emergency repairs were carried out on the carriageway.

A 70-metre stretch of the A1 Douglas to Peel Road, near Braddan Church, underwent resurfacing.

However, remedial work is now needed to 'ensure a smooth transition' between the old and new surfaces.

It follows an 'inspection upon completion'.

The days on which the work takes place are 'weather dependent'.
