Opening up the telecoms market is essential for a competitive jurisdiction.
That's the reaction of BlueWave Communications Managing Director Stuart Baggs to news that from next month customers will be free to choose which operator they use to make fixed line calls with.
The facility known as Carrier Pre-Selection could allow consumers to use different operators for local and international calls.
In a separate move aimed at opening-up competition, by the end of the year Island customers will be able to choose who provides their fixed line.
The annoucements have been made by the Island's Communications Commission this week.
Mr Baggs says it's very good news.
