19-year-old was drunk and disorderly in Douglas
A teenager from Onchan who had to be PAVA sprayed so police could arrest him has been fined £600.
Jordan Joseph Halligan-Bunce, of Ashley Park, was spotted by police in Douglas in the early hours of 18 June – he was shouting and swearing.
They followed him to Barrack Street where they found him in a ‘highly agitated’ state – the 19-year-old told them he was angry and continued to shout and swear.
He pulled away from officers and began kicking out as they attempted to put him in the police van leading them to use incapacitant spray.
At Douglas Courthouse Halligan-Bunce admitted resisting a police constable and being drunk and disorderly.
His advocate told the court his client had been a ‘handful’ adding: "There’s quite a lot going on in the background for this young man. He’s behaved in a way that he never normally would."
Ordering him to pay prosecution costs of £125 High Bailiff Jayne Hughes told Halligan-Bunce: "The abuse you directed towards them (the police) is not acceptable by anybody’s standards.
"I treat this as a one-off incident that won’t be repeated."
