Teen accused of wounding with intent to murder appears in court

19-year-old denies possessing knife at Cornaa Beach

A teenager accused of wounding another person with intent to cause murder has made a further court appearance.

Taylor Jake Murphy, who is currently remanded at the Isle of Man Prison, appeared at Douglas Courthouse (10 March) via video link.  

The 19-year-old has also been charged with two counts of robbery.

The three offences, which allegedly took place in Maughold on 6 October last year, can only be tried at the Court of General Gaol Delivery.

During his hearing, in front of the deputy high bailiff, Mr Murphy entered a not guilty plea to possessing a knife at Cornaa Beach on the same day.

He also denied three offences - taking a vehicle without consent, burglary and theft from a property, and stealing from a vehicle - which are said to have taken place on 5 October.

Committal proceedings, where the case is elevated to the Court of General Gaol Delivery, will take place on 14 April.

There was no application for bail and the teen was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on 7 April.
