HMRC phone calls are from conmen
If you’ve been called by the UK taxman demanding you pay an outstanding tax bill, don’t panic.
Police in Ramsey says members of the public have been called by someone claiming to be from HMRC asking for instant payment.
But officers say it’s a scam – and the taxman never rings people to take credit card or bank details.
Their advice is to put the phone down and never give personal or financial details over the phone.
