
A debate about offshore finance in the House of Lords has given more details about what campaigners say is tax avoidance by one of Britain’s largest banks.
The Guardian newspaper was last week prevented from publishing documents which it claimed showed Barclays had been avoiding millions of pounds in tax in the UK.
During a debate last week, Liberal Democrat Lord Oakshotte brought up the matter, listing a number of projects run by Barclays.
And amongst them was one in particular he said had made use of the Isle of Man for tax reasons.
