The plight of soldiers suffering from mental health problems is being highlighted this month.
The charity Combat Stress was founded at the end of World War I to help troops returning from the trenches heal their psychological wounds.
Army mother Laura Nottingham, in cooperation with the Army benevolent Fund, has arranged for Major-General David Rutherford-Jones to visit the Island, to give a talk about how soldiers are trained and the work of Combat Stress.
She says the macho atmosphere in the army makes talking about mental illness difficult (play audio file):
The talk and fund raising event is due to be held at the Manx Museum on April 16.
