Swine flu remains in 'containment phase'

The DHSS has decided not to follow the United Kingdom's lead, and move from the 'containment phase' to the 'treatment phase' for swine flu.

The change of emphasis in the UK has come about because of the large number of cases being reported there.

However, only four people have tested positive in the Isle of Man and, with no evidence of widespread community transmission, patients will continue to be tested and offered Tamiflu if they are found to have the virus.

The DHSS says the situation is being kept under review, and the public will told if a decision is taken to change the approach.

Anybody who suspects they have swine flu should contact their GP's surgery by telephone and definitely not visit any medical service.
