
The manager of the Strand Shopping Centre says the introduction of Sunday parking charges at two large car parks in Douglas is another hurdle in the way of hard-pushed retailers.
An online petition is currently demanding the charge at Chester Street and Drumgold Street car parks be removed.
John Shakespeare says whilst he appreciates the hard times being faced by the government, retailers are also suffering badly.
He believes there should at least have been a car parking survey before any such charge was introduced, particularly as parking is already at a premium with the Douglas Development work ongoing:
