Does the Isle of Man need another brand-name chain hotel to boost tourism?
The Department of Economic Development says a new £20,000 survey of tourist accommodation should help answer the question.
The study will be carried out by UK consultants, and aims to inform the government as it draws up plans for the future of tourism.
Departmental member David Cretney MLC says the survey will also try to find out if bigger, international hotel chains would harm or hinder Island businesses:
