But union still currently has action planned in February
The NASUWT hopes a U-turn on walkouts today from its members could be a positive step forward.
The union has suspended planned strikes today, with teachers and students now expected to attend school as normal.
As it stands, NASUWT still has walkouts scheduled for 15-16 February due to an ongoing dispute with DESC over pay and conditions.
However, the organisation's Deputy General Secretary, Jane Peckham, says they remain committed to talks to resolve this dispute:
