Strict firework controls in force

Bonfire night is just over a week away, and the Office of Fair Trading has inspected all firework retailers, with police and fire officers, to ensure they are being sold safely.

Police are most worried about under 18s trying to make illegal purchases, while the fire service is making sure the explosives are stored correctly.

Community patrols by firefighters and police officers will aim to keep the public safe, and reduce nuisance caused to local residents.

Fireworks went on sale in the Isle of Man on Saturday, and can be set off until Friday, November 7.
