'Stretched' services launch appeal after three cycling accidents

Emergency response teams called to 'inaccessible' locations

A countryside appeal has been launched after three seperate accidents, where cyclists needed hospital treatment.

The environment department is urging people to avoid taking 'unnecessary risks' when exercising during lockdown.

Emergency services were recently called to carry out rescues in difficult locations, including coastal paths and plantations.

All three incidents needed a multi-agency response, in one occasion requiring the coastguard helicopter.

Chief Fire Officer Kevin Groom is 'asking people to take extra care and not place extra demands on the emergency services and healthcare systems that are stretched to the limit.’
