Chair Hannah Mackenzie says 294 will become LED and 'dark sky compliant'
Port Erin Commissioners says it has been given approval by Treasury to upgrade the last of its 'ageing' street lighting stock.
It will cost the local authority £215,000 which it confirmed was budgeted for in February and believes that the scheme will become 'cost neutral'.
Decorative lighting has also been included on the upper promenade as well as some new festoon lighting for the village.
Chair Hannah Mackenzie says the project will see 294 lights replaced with LEDs and some will also have new columns.
She added that these will replace the current 'sodium' stock and will also be 'dark sky compliant'.
