Happened in area where flood prevention work has been carried out
A manhole cover in an area of Laxey that has undergone extensive flood prevention work was forced off by storm water during recent heavy rainfall.
Garff MHK Andrew Smith, who lives on Glen Road, says the system became heavily blocked with vegetation, logs and branches after Storm Barra.
He managed to clear the problem until the Manx Utilities Authority arrived to resolve it fully.
Mr Smith, who has this week visited flooding hotspots in the village with engineers, says he's not speculating on the reasons for the blockage:
