Report says regulator could have brought clarity
The Steam Packet should have asked its regulator to help lobby government over crew issues during the Covid-19 pandemic.
That’s one of the findings of a report into the so-called 'Steam Packet related Covid cluster'.
Conducted by Treasury's audit division it states that contacting the Ship Registry would have helped bring clarity and escalated the matter within government.
The ferry operator is also the subject of two recommendations - a risk assessment review to update tiered and proportionate responses to varying infection risk levels.
And, secondly, an internal audit programme of coronavirus risk management.
