Steam Packet 'confident' in Manxman's November return

Ferry operator says timeline for vessel's repairs 'a realistic one'

The Isle of Man Steam Packet says it's confident its flagship vessel Manxman will be back in service by the end of November and no later.

It's been in dry dock since July with extensive work needed to repair the vessel’s two propulsion shafts.

Passengers due to travel on Manxman over the next two months have been notified.

Meanwhile, the Ben-my-Chree, Manannan and Arrow will continue to provide passenger and freight capacity during the extended period of work.

Managing Director Brian Thomson says it's "disappointing" for the people who's travel plans have been disrupted.

And whilst he says there is a lot that needs to be fixed with Manxman, they're not concerned about the Christmas period:
