75% of Nautilus members vote in favour of new Steam Packet deal

The row lasted more than two years and escalated to prompt industrial action in December 2023

Seventy-five percent of members of the maritime trade union Nautilus have accepted a new deal with the Steam Packet Company, ending a lengthy dispute spanning more than two years.

It stemmed from changes to workers' terms of employment, which would've seen them adopt a 'live on board' model.

The row escalated towards the end of last year prompting industrial action, disrupting the ferry operators schedule.

Under the new deal, Nautilus says ‘officers will now have more time at home with their families and loved ones than originally offered, while also allowing provision for live aboard’.

75 percent of the union members voted to accept the offer.
