Ferry operator working to rectify issue as soon as possible
The Steam Packet Company has confirmed Manannan suffered a control fault with one of its generators during this morning's crossing to Liverpool.
The vessel had to return to Douglas less than an hour into the sailing after it was deemed not safe to enter the port of Liverpool.
The operator says there was also a risk the fastcraft would not be permitted to depart Liverpool if the fault wasn't rectified.
As a result, this morning's 7.15am and 11.15am departures were both cancelled, with passengers transferred to the Manxman's sailings.
Coach transfers have been laid on between Liverpool and Heysham for foot passengers.
Managing Director Brian Thomson says the Steam Packet is very sorry about the cancellations and disruption caused.
He adds "we're working hard to get things back on track as soon as we can".
