Speculation on police inquiries 'unhelpful'

Public safety remains priority for police

Dealing with facts, not speculation, is a vital part of the Island’s police operation.

So insists a senior officer after recent local investigations prompted an outpouring of discussion on social media.

Custody and control Inspector Gavin Callow says such actions can make people feel unsafe and that online debate about  ongoing inquiries is unhelpful.

He admits public safety will always be the priority for the constabulary.
