Trials to offer dermatology and physiotherapy at GP surgeries
Offering specialist services at GP surgeries could cut 'months of suffering' for those in need of physiotherapy and dermatology treatment.
Two trials are to take place, with appointments available directly through GP practices, rather than a patient having to wait for a referral to a specialist.
Five GPs are undergoing training to be able to treat a range of skin issues, while two surgeries - Ramsey Group Practice and Kensington Group Practice in Douglas - will offer physiotherapy services.
The first dermatology clinic will launch in Peel later this month, with four doctors undergoing training to offer services in the north, south, east and west of the Island.
If successful, the system could be rolled out Island-wide.
