Ruth Tickle receives honour for best adult voice
In competitions in the Villa Marina last night, the two highest honours which the Manx Music Festival can award were given out.
Soprano Ruth Tickle won the prestigious Cleveland Medal for the best adult voice in the Festival, whilst 15 year old Alexandra Slater is the new holder of the Sheffield Plate - the prize for the Festival's best young voice.
Alexandra is a pupil of Olivia Black, and sang a traditional Manx song "O What If the Fowler My Blackbird Has Taken?" with accompanist Frank Woolley.
Both Ruth and Alexandra will be back on stage in the Royal Hall tonight - with the pressure of competition behind them, they'll both be taking part in the Festival's Finest, a great variety show featuring winning performances from this year's Manx Music Festival
But there's still another day of competitions in the Villa today and music teacher Ruth Tickle will be back in the Royal Hall supporting her pupils in the school choir classes.
