Social media campaign tracks star
A wish has come true for a terminally-ill Manx girl after singer Katy Perry send her a message of support.
A massive social media campaign which started in the Isle of Man on Friday with the parents and friends of Sophie Birtles, quickly went global, and even trended on Twitter.
Messages poured in after 13-year old Sophie was pictured at Rebecca House Children's Hospice with a picture quoting Katy's track, 'You're a Firework Sophie'.
In just over 48 hours, the quest to reach the US singer hit the target and a video message from Katy to Sophie has arrived this morning.
Sophie's sister posted:
WE'VE DONE IT!!!
Waiting for Sophie to wake and see her video message from the one and only Katy Perry!
Thanks for everyone's support, and of course Katy Perry! x
