Some facilities across Manx Care 'not currently fit for purpose'

Issues raised in new reports published by the CQC

Inconsistent processes regarding the cleaning, maintenance and calibration of equipment have been identified as issues across Manx Care in new reports published by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The CQC found that some facilities were not currently fit for purpose - having implications for the safety of patients and staff. 

In the hospice, for example, staff did not use separate cleaning equipment for different areas of the hospice, which increased cross-contamination risks.

And the children’s ward at the hospital did not have any dedicated cubicles for children who presented with mental health needs.
