Solway owner 'regret'

The owner of the Solway Harvester struggled at times to compose himself as he spent a second day giving evidence at an inquiry into the sinking.

Richard Gidney told Kirkcudbright Sheriff Court he didn’t regret anything more in his life than what had happened to the vessel and its crew.

All seven men on board died when the boat (pictured) sank off the Island in January 2000.

When asked if he wanted to express any remorse or sorrow to their families, Mr Gidney said it had affected him deeply.

He will continue giving evidence today (Wednesday).
