Solway hearing concludes

The inquest into the Solway Harvester tragedy will resume in the Isle of Man in the autumn.

Vessel owner Richard Gidney has finished giving evidence at an inquiry at Kirkcudbright Sheriff Court in Scotland.

Mr Gidney was ordered to appear, after initially refusing to travel to the Island on legal advice.

A full transcript of this week’s proceedings, heard before Sheriff Principal Brian Lockhart, will be handed over to the Isle of Man's Coroner, Michael Moyle, who was in court in Scotland, next month.

The Solway Harvester sank eleven miles off the Isle of Man in January 2000, with the loss of its crew of seven.
