Solway Harvester - accidental death verdict

A verdict of accidental death has been recorded at the inquest into the deaths of the crew of the Solway Harvester.

It’s nearly nine years since the fishing vessel sank 11 miles off the Isle of Man with the loss of all seven men on board.

This morning (Saturday) at Douglas courthouse, coroner Michael Moyle delivered his verdict, and although ruled the crew died accidentally, said the precise reason for the sinking could not be ascertained with certainty.

All crewmen came from near the village of Isle of Whithorn, in Dumfries and Galloway.
