People who stop smoking for 28 days 'five times more likely to quit for good'
The Isle of Man Stop Smoking Service is urging smokers across the Island to join millions of others who have quit successfully through the annual Stoptober campaign.
Dr Matt Tyrer, Director of Public Health, says the good news is; if you manage to stop smoking for 28 days, you're five times more likely to quit for good.
This year's Stoptober theme, 'let's quit smoking together,' emphasises the power of support in helping people to stop permanently.
Throughout this month the service is offering weekly drop-in sessions for anyone who wants to quit or needs support, along with a new workplace initiative which provides a tailored seven week, on site programme for 10 or more smokers ready to quit.
In-person appointments are already available at locations across the Island.
