Change coming in for tourist season
The introduction of temporary work permit exemptions for summer workers in the hospitality sector is a "huge step forward".
That's according to the managing director of Sleepwell Hotels, Mark Wilson.
The initiative comes into effect on Wednesday, but does not give employers carte blanche.
Workers must meet certain criteria such as having at least 12 months relevant experience, the exemption only covers genuine seasonal vacancies and does not apply to zero-hours contract workers.
Mr Wilson says it's not a cure-all, but is great news and hopefully a sign of things to come:
