David Quirk has launched a public consultation on safety of lanterns
There's no evidence of sky lanterns posing a threat to the surrounding environment.
That's according to the chairman of the Office of Fairtrading David Quirk, who has launched a public consultation on the matter.
There have been claims the lanterns have caused fires and even killed a cow when it chocked on the wire frame.
But Mr Quirk says there's no solid proof the lanterns are responsible for this damage.
The government consultation runs until July 3rd.
