Skills Strategy hopes to tackle 'significant' skills shortage

Part of Island Plan to create and fill 5,000 new jobs by 2032

Government's hoping a new strategy will help tackle the Island's 'significant' skills shortage.

It's created a framework for both the public and private sectors to actively invest in upskilling people.

It's part of plans to create and fill 5,000 new jobs by 2032.

The strategy sets out four goals:

• Engage Isle of Man employers

• Attract diverse talent

• Encourage lifelong learning

• Make data informed decisions

It'll be debated at the May sitting of Tynwald.

Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Rebecca George said: "Embracing a new skills strategy for the Isle of Man is not just a step forward; it's a testament to our commitment to growth, innovation and a strong partnership between business and government.
