Historic building to come down
Work begins today on a project to demolish a landmark building in Port Erin.
A site around the Royal Hotel on the upper promenade is being prepared for the demolition, and Maine Road in the village will close from 8am today, not reopening until 8pm next Sunday, 13 August.
The Royal has been boarded up since 2008, and owner Dandara has planning permission to build new apartments on the site.
