Siren test today

The quarterly test of the all-Island public warning siren system takes place today.

Sirens at 30 of the 31 sites will sound the steady "all clear" signal for 15 seconds

The Mount Murray siren will not be tested on this occasion.

The public are reminded that in a real emergency the siren will sound a rising and falling note for three minutes, in which case people should stay in doors and tune to the local radio stations to find out the nature of the emergency and listen for advice on any action to be taken.

It's being stressed today's test is a routine exercise and there is no need to do anything.

Today's quarterly test of the all-Island public warning siren system is due to take place at 11am.
