Single horse tram track favoured by councillor

The leader of Douglas Borough Council is reaffirming the local authority's continuing support for the town's horse tram service.

The Department of Infrastructure's recently published Issues and Options document for the promenade has prompted speculation from some quarters about the future of the vintage transport system.

But David Christian says there are no plans to surrender ownership of the trams, or bring the service to an end, and both those points were reinforced in the recent budget from the town hall.

Councillor Christian says he favours a single horse tram track on the sea-side of the promenade, where cars are currently parked, with a passing area near the bottom of Broadway.
