Shore Road markings to be corrected

DoI says corrective works won't cost the taxpayer

The cost of correcting road markings in the south of the Island won't be borne by the taxpayer.

That's according to the Department of Infrastructure after footpath markings on Shore Road were removed.

The seaward walkway is intended to be used as a shared route for pedestrians and cyclists following the recent roadworks in the area.

The contractors in charge of the project painted markings to highlight this, but an inspection by the DoI found they weren't up to the specified standard.

As a result, the paintwork has now been removed, with replacement markings to be introduced in due course.

The Department says these corrective works won't be paid for by the taxpayer, and in the meantime the route remains available to pedestrians and cyclists.
