Shingles jab linked with lowering risk of dementia

Manx government to follow UK lead on shingles jabs for over-65s

A study's found the shingles vaccine reduces the risk of dementia.

The Manx Government recently announced it would be following the UK's lead in offering the Shingles jab free to everybody over the age of 65.

Experts at the University of Oxford say the Shingrix jab, given to people on the NHS, lowers the chances of developing the condition by at least 17 percent.

This equates to five to nine more months of life without dementia for those given the treatment.
