A farmer in the south of the Island is counting the cost after a dog attacked his flock of lambs at Langness.
It left three animals injured, with two of them needing medical treatment.
The attacked happened either yesterday or today, when the lambs were grazing in a secure field near the lighthouse.
Police in the south say they are seriously concerned that anybody would let their dogs worry and attack lambs in any circumstances, but particularly in a secure field.
They say somebody must have opened the gate or lifted their dogs over the fence to get at the lambs.
Anybody with information about the incident is asked to contact PC Higson at Castletown Police Office, on 832222.
The land where the attack occurred is owned by Jeremy Clarkson, but is rented out to a local farmer.
