Douglas City Council hopes to increase footfall to the high street
Shaw's Brow car park is to be made free of charge at weekends from April.
Douglas City Council says it's on a trial basis.
It follows a survey carried out by Douglas City Centre Management last year about what would encourage people to visit more often.
It says the biggest issue raised was car parking.
Although a lack of parking was reported, the council says there were plenty of spaces available if drivers were prepared to pay for them.
As a result, it's trialling making Shaw's Brow car park free from 7pm every Friday until 7am every Monday from 3 April.
It will be reviewed after Christmas to see if the trial has been successful in increasing weekend footfall.
