Seventh candidate announces Rushen candidacy 

Helen Sheppard to stand in September's General Election

A seventh person has announced their candidacy for Rushen in September's General Election.

Helen Sheppard is founder and trustee of the local children's charity, A Little Piece of Hope, which provides support to bereaved families and children facing serious illness.

If elected, she says her priorities will include supporting families, carers and young people, improving mental health services and access to healthcare, and strengthening the economy.

Helen says: "For the past 14 years I’ve worked in schools, I’ve worked as a carer, learning what people from various walks of life need. 

"I've also founded and run a charity, to turn personal loss into practical help for bereaved and seriously ill families across the Isle of Man. 

"I'd like to bring that same care and determination into the Keys."

Also standing in the constituency are Gary Chambers, Michael Crowe, Michelle Haywood, Mark Kemp, Laurence Vaughan-Williams and Simon Williams.

The General Election is taking place on Thursday 24 September.
