Seven new off-road vehicles for Fire and Rescue Service

£1.17 million spent on emergency vehicles

More than one million pounds has been spent on seven new off-road firefighting vehicles which have entered service at fire stations on the Isle of Man.

The vehicles - six of which are equipped with standard firefighting equipment and one which is a specialist rescue vehicle - will replace the existing fleet.

They all have improved pumping options, more storage for firefighting equipment and are more environmentally friendly.

Seventy drivers have been trained to operate the vehicles safely under blue light and off-road conditions with more than 1300 training hours logged by staff to date.

Interim Chief Fire Officer Mark Christian says it's been a major project:
