Leisure complex burned down in 1973
A campaigner for the victims of the Summerland tragedy says the Island has not forgotten - 44 years on.
The leisure complex burned down on 2 August, 1973, killing 50 people.
Tina Brennen watched from nearby as the disaster unfolded, and has pushed for a public memorial for a number of years.
She says, despite attempts to 'airbrush out' the event, it has never left the public's consciousness:
A short service of remembrance is being held opposite the former Summerland site on Douglas Promenade tonight at 7.30pm.
