A service to remember one of the best known residents of the west of the Island is being held today (Saturday).
Eddie Leece of Peel passed away ten days ago, at the age of 92.
He was a former headteacher of Peel Clothworkers' School, a long-time member of the town's commissioners and a member of the Board of Education.
He also founded the Leece Museum in 1984.
Two years ago, when he was made a freeman of Peel, he was described as 'a truly remarkable gentleman, who personified the town's spirit'.
Venue and time of service: Peel Methodist Chapel, at 11am.
