
A member of the House of Keys says jail is not always the best option for offenders.
Onchan member Peter Karran was speaking after it was confirmed a review of penalties handed down under the Isle of Man's justice system has resumed, following a break during the Child Care Inquiry.
It will be in five stages, after which a report with recommendations will be produced.
Mr Karran (pictured) says custodial sentences cost a lot of money and it's important to consider other options which could be more efficient and effective (audio file attached):
