Government hopes community will back initiative
Government has joined forces with Beach Buddies to encourage hospitality businesses to stop using unnecessary plastics.
The Plastic Free Business Scheme will see those in the sector who reduce, or completely remove, single-use items issued with a certificate and window sticker to display.
Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Geoffrey Boot is hoping the Manx public buy into the initiative:
Castletown based Secret Pizza Co., Uncle Fill's and Jazzy Jeff's only use recyclable and biodegradable packaging.
Kylie Rollins works for the businesses.
She thinks companies need to consider more than just the financial aspect:
Beach Buddies founder Bill Dale says whilst most people are aware of the issues plastic can present changes still need to be made:
Residents still want to see what wind farm will look like
Construction costs on the Island 18% above UK average and comparable with Outer London
Manx residents 'will probably need to pay more' if they want universal health service
